In the News: Public Transportation Industry Honors and Helps America’s Veterans All Year-Round

At Ride Right, we are proud to serve veterans every day, and to employ them as members of our family. We hope all those who have served in our military feel appreciated this weekend on Veteran’s Day!

As the American Public Transit Association (APTA) points out in a recent Mass Transit article, public transit services are a key component in many veterans’ lives, whether they need transportation to school, work, shopping, or medical appointments. According to APTA, 2.9 million vets live in rural and small towns–accounting for 33% of the veteran population enrolled in the VA healthcare system. Without public transit, many of these veterans would be unable to access opportunities and everyday necessities within their communities.

From providing free rides to job fairs and offering free or reduced fare Dial-a-Ride services to VA medical facilities to donating vehicles to veteran organizations and offering free monthly bus passes, many transit agencies nationwide are chipping in to ensure their communities’ veterans have the access they need to live happier, fulfilled lives.
